35mm Film Wedding Photography
This Penrith country wedding was one of the most relaxed celebrations I’ve photographed. The couple kept things simple, focusing on family, friends, and enjoying the day together. I shot everything on 35mm Kodak Portra 400 film, which gave the images a timeless, natural look that suited the setting perfectly.
The ceremony took place outdoors beside a lake, with rolling hills and open countryside behind. Guests gathered casually, children played nearby, and the couple exchanged vows in front of the water. It was informal, friendly, and exactly the kind of atmosphere they wanted.
After the ceremony, everyone moved onto the lawn for drinks. I focused on candid, documentary-style photography — moments like friends laughing together, parents sharing hugs, and the newlyweds walking by the water. Shooting on film meant slowing down and waiting for the right moments, which helped capture the calm and genuine feel of the day.
Dinner was served in a marquee strung with lights, followed by speeches full of laughter and a busy dance floor later in the evening. Nothing felt rushed, and the whole day had a relaxed rhythm from start to finish.
Looking back at the photographs, what stands out most is how natural everything felt. Shooting on Kodak Portra 400 film gave the images soft tones and a texture that matched the laid-back style of the wedding.
If you’re planning a wedding and like the idea of film photography with a documentary approach, I’d love to chat. My focus is on capturing real moments and creating images that feel true to the day.
