Frequently Asked Questions
1. How would you describe your photography?
Documentary photography with an editorial eye.
I don’t arrive with a predetermined idea of what your wedding should look like. I photograph the people, the atmosphere, the beautiful bits, the strange bits and everything that happens in between.
The photographs should look like your wedding, not somebody else’s idea of wedding photography.
2. Do you photograph on film as well as digital?
Yes. I photograph digitally and on 35mm film.
Film can be included as part of the coverage. Let me know what you have in mind and I’ll explain the options.
3. Can we see a complete wedding?
Yes. I’m happy to show you a complete recent gallery so you can see how I photograph the whole day rather than a small collection of highlights.
4. Have you photographed at our venue before?
Possibly, but it isn’t essential.
I don’t work from a list of familiar locations or repeat the same photographs at every venue. The people, light and events of the day should dictate the photographs.
5. Do you take formal or group photographs?
If you want them, yes.
My general approach is unobtrusive and documentary, but that doesn’t mean refusing to take a photograph simply because somebody has arranged themselves for it. We can discuss any family or group photographs you particularly want beforehand.
6. What do your packages include?
Wedding photography starts at £2,000 for six hours.
Coverage is based on the hours you need, with digital photography and an edited online gallery included. Film, travel and albums are quoted separately where relevant.
Tell me where and when it is and roughly how long you would like me there, and I’ll tailor a clear quote to your plans.
7. Are there any additional costs?
Travel, additional coverage, film, albums or prints may cost extra depending on what you require.
Anything additional will be explained in the quote rather than appearing unexpectedly afterwards.
8. Are you available on our date?
Send me the date and location through the contact page and I’ll let you know.
9. How far in advance should we book?
As soon as you have your date, it is worth checking availability. There is no fixed booking window, but popular Saturdays naturally disappear first.
10. Do you work with a second photographer?
I prefer to work alone because I have a very distinctive style and want the finished gallery to feel consistent.
For weddings of around 150 guests or more, however, a second photographer becomes very useful—particularly for details and parts of the day happening simultaneously.
11. What happens if you can’t attend?
I’m part of a referral and emergency-backup group of ten experienced, high-end wedding photographers.
In the unlikely event that I’m unable to attend, that gives me immediate access to trusted photographers capable of stepping in.
12. When will we receive the photographs?
Within one month of your wedding day.
13. How many photographs will we receive?
Your package includes 500 finished photographs.
The completed gallery will contain more than 500, allowing you to make the final selection rather than leaving that decision to me.
14. How will we receive the photographs?
The finished photographs are delivered through a password-protected online gallery, where they can be viewed and downloaded.
There is also an integrated print shop, and albums are available if required.
15. Can we print and share the photographs?
Yes. You receive personal printing rights and can download, print and share your photographs. I retain the copyright.
16. What if we’re uncomfortable in front of the camera?
Most people are.
I’m not going to spend the day turning you into models or asking you to perform a series of unnatural interactions. I’ll give you help when it is genuinely useful, but for most of the day you can forget about me and get on with having your wedding.
17. Do you have liability insurance?
Yes.
