Victoria and Richard got married at St Bartholomew the Great and celebrated at Sessions Arts Club.

It was a second marriage for both of them, which gave the day a particular clarity. Nobody was performing the idea of a wedding. They knew what mattered, invited the people they wanted there and chose two London buildings with more character than most supporting casts.

St Bart’s supplied nine hundred years of stone and shadow. Sessions supplied the food, the atmosphere and the beautiful, slightly disreputable glamour. I photographed the rest.

Finding the venue is part of its charm: a discreet red door on Clerkenwell Green opens into a dim, atmospheric reception area that immediately signals you’re entering somewhere special.

The lift ride to the fourth floor builds anticipation, and when the doors open, guests are greeted by one of London’s most breathtaking dining spaces. The Great Room is a masterpiece of contrasts: towering Georgian windows flood the space with light, while exposed plaster, peeling mint-green paint, and carefully curated artwork create an effortlessly cool, bohemian atmosphere. The mezzanine level overlooks the main dining area, and everywhere you look, there are perfect compositions waiting to be photographed.

One of Sessions Arts Club’s hidden treasures is its rooftop terrace, offering panoramic views across London. As the evening light softened, Victoria and Richard slipped away with me for some couple portraits against the city skyline.
