Wilton’s Music Hall Wedding Photography

Well so much for my plans to restart the weekly wedding blog.  This blog, the keen-eyed observers among you will have noticed, is not exactly hot on the heels of the last one.  I’d like to say this is because I’m a feckless dandy who’s been sitting around in hammocks eating soft cheeses and listening to obscure proto-electronica like The Silver Apples.  But the truth is I haven’t listened to The Silver Apples since I was about 18.  And also the other stuff isn’t quite true either.  I’ve been very busy with weddings.  Which is great professionally, but a little less romantic in terms of my flaneur credentials.  But anyway, what a wedding to come back with.  A Hawksmoor church–Christ Church in Spitalfields–followed by the utterly unique Wilton’s Music Hall.  Plus the brilliant and too-lovely bride and groom combo of Flic and Thom.  This was just kind of a dream wedding to shoot.  Absolutely everything and everyone was photogenic and completely charming.  There was the clean modern lines of Hoxton Hotel, the roomy grandeur of Christ Church to the beautiful, slightly scuffed intimacy of Wilton’s Music Hall.  And to top it all off, Thom’s friends were largely his friends from music school, which meant the two absolutely storming wedding bands assembled exclusively for the night were comprised entirely of his friends… and sometimes Thom on guitar or performing his rousing karaoke classic, Love Shack by the B52s.  Flic also loves her music, there were Zappa references in the mix, and I’m pretty sure this will be the only time I shoot a first dance to Scritti Politti.  It was a younger wedding and crowd than I tend to shoot–with everyone in their mid to late twenties which gave the dance floor even more energy than normal, and I actually went home at the end of the night feeling I’d left a gig more than a wedding.  And played Róisín Murphy tracks all the way home. Here are the images from the day.  Enjoy!
