London Jewish Wedding Photography

So if winter weddings aren’t challenging enough, bring on the dark and arboreal Bethnal Green Town Hall Hotel.  And if that isn’t enough how about a spot of Jewish dancing there?  However, I’ve said it before and I’ll stop banging on about it soon, I promise, but challenges fire you up to do better work and I’m particularly proud of the sequence of dancing at the end of the night.  If you’ve ever been to a Jewish wedding you’ll know what I’m talking about.  And if you’ve ever photographed Jewish dancing you’ll feel my pain — mostly my stamped on toes and elbowed face.  Boisterous doesn’t even come close.  It’s like this crazy, whirling scrum of a dance.  A hell of a lot of fun but try photographing it!  It was a great day from start to finish though.  From Gemma and her friends preparing for the day in the beautiful Town Hall hotel room, while Paul and his friends (good Jewish boys) tried to secretly catch at least some of the Spurs game in the ballroom across the way, to the two ceremonies, one civil (well they were both civil but you know what I mean) and the other Jewish — in which the eccentric Rabbi, who was asked to do a tight twenty minute service ran long by about an hour.  After that drinking and dining in two of the darkest rooms a wedding photographer can be asked to photograph in, and then on to the aforementioned dangerous stomping, spinning, mêlée of hand-to-hand combat dancing…

Here are the photos to prove it…
