NICK TUCKER PHOTOGRAPHY
LONDON WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
'The most amazing wedding photographer we could of asked for. Nick totally understood our vision, listened to what we wanted and didn't push his opinion on us. He was unobtrusive and captured every moment of our day absolutely perfectly.' Lizzie & Dan
I approach weddings from a storytelling angle. That's my background. Before taking up photography about ten years ago now I was a writer. I had short stories published as well as a large extract from a novel that came very close to being published going into Ambit. I even wrote for Banksy for a brief period back in the early 2000s--which was interesting time! So yes, for me it's about the stories, the moments, the moments between moments. All the complex human interactions that go together to make up a wedding day.
I can also be a tad obsessive in a geeky kind of way. I have had to buy new reinforced bookshelves to hold all the photography books I've very quickly amassed. I love to sit down in 'the library' as my girlfriend calls it, take out a book almost at random and absorb the work. But there aren't all books of photojournalism. I'm just as passionate about fashion photography. Fashion is also storytelling. It's just a heightened and stylised version. This is why I like my work to be a blend of the two. I also shoot author portraits, street photography and fashion -- as well as the London burlesque scene.
I do believe that wedding photography should always be about the individual couple. Not a kind of one style fits all approach. Your wedding photos should look like your wedding day. Not a style imposed on your day by the photographer so that your photos start to resemble generic 'wedding photos' that could be interchangeable with any number of images you find on Google with a quick wedding photography search. Your day will look like your day. Just the best possible version of your day. What I like to call the 'high end snapshot.' Authentic, living, breathing moments that capture all the layered personalities, quirks and even eccentrities of everyone involved.
